Welcome to my personal project, Exiles and Outcasts! The original idea came from a single drawing of a character, which I ended up connecting to other characters I had drawn here or there and found a way to fit them all together in the same world. I tried doing a web comic on Instagram, but I didn’t love the format after a couple handfuls of panels. Last year for NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) 2015 I made a goal to write 50,000 words of story for my characters and came away victorious! The book is still in editing, as it turns out when you write 50k words in 30 days there ends up being some glaring issues with the story, so I’m working through that. I hope to have the book done and self-published by October 2016, just in time for my Monroe Comic Con appearance this year. In the meantime, here’s some concept art. Someday I hope to turn this world into an RPG game or a comic of my very own. Below you can see a bunch of concept art I’ve put together as well as the original run of the attempted web comic.
Exiles and Outcasts follows a bit of a cultural mutt, Jaecyn, as she travels the world in search of work and gold to keep her belly full and gear in good repair. She travels with her companion bear, Gibbs, and meets a number of other’s on the fringes of their society on the continent of Dracyria. This is a story of those exiled from their reality, cast out into the world to fend for themselves in some way or another. Meet characters like Hayden the Storm Lord, Jinn the Bloodied Widow and Urii the Dragon Hunter. Discover a whole new world of magic, dragons, evangelical knights, terrible people in power, and learn the rich history of the warring elves, the goblin slavers and the mages of Mount Magi. Travel the ruins of Thess, the great city of dragonkin and the haunted Valley of Scorched Knives, where an elven genocide occurred years ago. Uncover the mysterious of the Dragon Stone with Jaecyn and be part of her adventure.
