Tali and Miranda

Like the rest of the world, I’m a fan of Mass Effect, and after finishing Mass Effect 3 I decided to do some drawings of a couple characters. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Miranda in ME2, but in ME3 her diversion was sweet and sad for her, and a touching little story. Tali is another menace altogether. How can anyone not love Tali through the whole series? She’s a pretty phenomenal character, and while she wasn’t my FemShep’s love interest, I did hear some of the audio clips of Tali if she were, and they were certainly rivaling the heart-string tugs that Garrus had going on. Anyways, I drew Tali sans helmet, but rather than based off that shitty stock photo job, I based it off DeviantArtist Nebezial’s interpretation of Calisto-Lynn’s Quarian concept. To me, this is what a Quarian should look like.

Skeletor, Rule 63

Rule 63 is an internet adage which states that for every fictional character, there exists a counterpart in opposite gender. I saw an image of a girl at a comic con recently dressed similar to my drawing. Needless to say, her female version of Skeletor inspired the artwork.

I’ve really neglected putting anything up in a long time, and I need to fix that. This is the first of 3 posts going up today, and I hope to have more posts in the near future. I’ve been drawing like crazy, but haven’t been scanning. Time to kinda go back and rehash over what I’ve done. This particular drawing was inspired by playing SWTOR with the wife, and it’s our first level 50s, her’s was a Twi’lek Sith Inquisitor, and mine a Human Sith Warrior. Good fun that game, it’s got a lot of potential for greatness.

So yeah, I’ve been busy, this is probably 3/4 of what I’ve done since I ended the sketch challenge, the rest is even more bare frames. I’ve gotten into this thing of busting out a bunch of poses, then gradually going back through and filling them in. Some art turning out to be really awesome. I decided to do some color work this morning, and this was the result after about an hour, hour and a half of painting. It’s really rough looking still, but I really like it, and I think I’m going to leave it rough, it’s a nice style for the action in the shot.

I got an email from HBO earlier about True Blood (fantastic show btw) and I looked at Stephen Moyer, aka Bill Compton, King of Louisiana, and thought “hey, I can draw him.” Well I did, then I proceeded to eff it up. I had it, about half way through it looked spot on, then after a few more minutes, I don’t know what I did, but I completely lost the likeness. This makes me mad, so I’m going to try this one again soon.

I’ve always toyed with the idea of having my own personal business cards to give out as an artist, and today I tinkered around with an idea I had, so this is it. I’d LOVE to hear some comments and criticisms, so let me have it!

Logo Design

I was challenged by my Dad to come up with a logo with Cerberus in mind (3-headed dog, guardian of the gates to Hades). I think what I did came out pretty good. I’ll probably do a vector version soon if he digs it.

365. Challenge Complete!

It’s kind of hard to believe it, but 365 consecutive days of drawing is completed. There were lots of times I wanted to quit, but it seems that here at the end, I want to keep drawing. I’m going to continue to see how many days I can get it up to, but I’m going to be much more loose, and I’ll probably post a lot of bare-bones sketches in between bigger and more elaborate pieces. Anyways, to cap off the end, I redrew the first one of the challenge. I think I improved! Thanks for following along through this last year, and I hope you’ll continue watching for my posts as I continue!
