Daily Sketch Rules
So my current challenge for myself is the 365Sketch Challenge. What does that entail, I have to do some sort of drawing every day, for a year solid. Do I get any days off? No. What about Christmas? Thanksgiving? Talk-Like-A-Pirate Day? No! A year of art. Now I figure I need to lay out my ground rules to validate this a little.
So here are the rules:
- I have to spend a minimum of 15 minutes on the piece.
- Must be something discernible. So that means no abstract doodle because I was bored during a meeting.
- Must be drawn by me. Obviously.
- Artwork must be created and uploaded that day. No building up sketches in advance, or trying to make up for missing a day. I suppose I’ll be on the honor rule for this one. It is allowed to work on the same piece multiple days in a row.
So what constitutes as art for this challenge? The following: Anything created on a medium with a utensil. So what’s that mean? Photoshop with mouse or Wacom? Yes. Pencil and paper? Yes. Cream cheese on a bagel? Only if it’s masterfully done and wonderfully delicious. Can I do 3D stuff? Like sculpt something in MudBox, ZBrush, or Scluptris? Yes, yes I can. Can I take pictures of things and pass that off? No.
So here are the official limitations: Paper and Pen/Pencil, 3D Modeling, Digital Painting (texturing, illustration, coloring, etc) are the allowed mediums. No origami, no bronze sculptures, and surely nothing made from any sort of bodily excretion.
I think I have covered all bases, but if you don’t think I have, please, email me on my contact page and let me know what’s up.
