For most of the last two decades I've worked as a web developer. In the early 2000s, I took a graphic design job with Community ISP on the development team. There I took simple HTML knowledge and branched into a functional understanding of php, databases and understanding complex code systems. I also delved into learning Photoshop and Fireworks. For a number of years after that job, I worked in retail and retail leadership roles, honing customer service and team leadership skills at AutoZone and Best Buy.
I never stopped coding though, and in 2009 I took a web developer role at Toledo Web Shop, there I worked with a team and learned the fundamentals of CSS, XAMPP and content management systems like WordPress, ModX, and Magento. A year later I moved on to a developer role at Fruchtman Marketing. There I was the only developer, building multiple websites in various styles. Into the fire I went, learning a lot about CSS, php and JavaScript on the fly, and learned to be very resourceful, efficient, and a good at researching viable solutions and implementing them. I also learned a great deal about email marketing and design, and worked heavily in Constant Contact.
In 2013 I moved back into a team role at Hart, Inc., a Toledo born agency that's been around since 1965, as a Front End Web Developer. Since working at Hart I've expanded into deeper knowledge and understanding of styling and achieving great design with standardized code. I frequently build in Bootstrap and modify sites built in other frameworks like Grid, as well as custom code. I have experience building front end structure and integrating with CMS themes and hooks. I use code versioning and am very familiar with a variety of associated technologies. The list goes on and every new client brings a new learning experience. In addition to code experience I have experience writing estimates, statements of work, user experience as well as technical documentation.
The pandemic brought it's own challenges, but as a developer, working remote was already a regular monthly occurrence. Now, having worked remote full-time since March of 2020, I am very familiar with online communications tools such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Discord, and Slack. That said, I'm very tech savvy and can adapt to whatever the communication needs are. Since spring of 2020, I have been commended for my ability to remain easy-to-access, available when needed, self-managing projects and meeting my deadlines without question.
But wait, there's more! I've also put my artistic skills to use drawing up on the fly wireframes, and creating storyboards with the video department to use as shooting guides as well as client pitches. With Hart, I've worked with a number of national and international brands, each one bringing it's own unique needs, keeping me and my skills nimble. I'm eager to learn more about how we can work together.
Thank you,
Jarett
Note: This version of my website has been built in handful of hours on the fly. It's put together quickly and should be harshly judged, think of it as an alpha version. Now that I have things how I mostly want them, I'm rebuilding in React.
